In the historic city of Nafplion, generations of people and their works record and illuminate the passage of time. The Karonis family is inextricably interwoven with the city’s history. With artistry, proficiency and knowledge the Karonis family started, their journey in the field of spirits and alcoholic drinks in 1869. At that time starts the history of the creation of different products like ouzo, brandies and wines. Sauntering along the sidewalk of the contemporary "Karonis Wine Shop", the odor of ouzo, the color of wines, the pursuit of pleasure induce and invite us to enter the world of spirits.
Numerous are the friends of spirits. Many are those who were treated to a drink, have clinked the wine tasting glass, have asked for information, have learned about the Greek wines and have made their own choices.
Our current concern and interest focus mainly on wines. We have a good selection of wines and we always give our informed advices with expertise and great care, advices that range from the simple everyday needs to the most demanding selection from the Greek and foreign vineyards. The wine and spirits trail brings people closer, it is a way of life that if you have not discover it yet, it's worth learning about it and daring to taste it. Try a trip that will open your heart! The Karonis Wine Shop is an extension of our family heritage, allowing us to delve deeper into our own tradition and helping us spread the beauty of this world that fascinates us so incredibly much.
We organise wine tastings in the Old Town of Nafplio and tastings of ouzo, tsipouro & mastiha, in our own space, with a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful, vintage decoration. A place where you can quietly enjoy your wine, experience the tastes and aromas with all your senses and be guided properly by professionals with great knowledge.
Our tasting and services are available in Greek, English, French & Italian.
A founding member of the Greek Sommeliers Society, founded in 1997, studied in France and holds a Masters in European Vineyards as well as a Professional Certificate in Spirits of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSPC DIPLOMA Level 4). His current interest is mainly in wines.
View ProfileThe succesor of the Karonis Family Legacy, Panagiotis has been involved in the Wine Shop since early stages of his life. His studies in the WSPC where he received his WSET level 2 in Wines and his fathers knowledge passed down, are great "weapons" at his disposal.
